Ananyana Beach Resort

The small road leading to Ananyana Beach Resort, amidst lush vegetable, does let you except a natural setting, with a resort featuring local materials such as bamboo, nipa or sawali. But as pass the wooden gate, adorned with the fertility symbol that is the logo of Ananyana, you reach a place that is also both exotic and romantic. The garden resembles a tamed jungle forest with a jungle plants, strewn with red and orange flowers, where earthen jars and anitos, the carved figures of forefathers and spirits, are scattered. Vegetation reaches the border of the appealing, small white and sand beach. Set in the midst of the garden, as in the glade, are the few buildings of the intimate resort, housing the reception area, the restaurant, the dive shop and the suites. All have thatched, two-level roofs. The adjoining swimming pool is entirely made of natural stones, and its clear water is inviting and soothing with bluish-green hues, whose sight induces a feeling of calmness. One building houses the eight suite rooms, four in each of the two levels. The facade of the first story is covered with stone and the second with wood. Each room has a balcony, whose flooring is, together with the interior area, made of warm reddish Vigan tiles. Shutters are made of wood. The simple but elegant native furniture comprises a big bamboo bed and a wooden bureau-cum-dresser, while the bathroom makes use of the same stone and wood theme that permeaters the resort. the open air restaurant, set beside the pool, has the view of the beach as well, with fresh flowers decorating each table. the Asian fusion-cuisine food is simple, but the restaurant prides itself of choosing ingredients for their freshness, spicing them with local herbs and ingredients.

Alona Palm Beach Resort and Restaurant is a 2.5 hectare resort, part of the sprawling 6-hectare property, with the rest of the property being planted with coconut trees, mango trees and other fruit bearing trees. On one side of the bar at pool level, quests may enjoy their drinks sitting on stools while dipped in the refreshing waters. Leyte Park Hotel

Leyte Park Hotel, the largest hotel in Tacloban, occupies a prime spot on a slight promontory facing the bay of San Pedro. From here, you can get a glimpse of Samar Island on the opposite side. An energetic, spirited atmosphere often reigns here, as the hotel is the venue for numerous conferences and is the place where local residents go for the restaurants, bars and discotheque. you can take part in several activities and excursions from here. It is notable the jump-off point for Marabut Mirine Park and Beach Resort and the Sohoton National Park. The hotel is made up of two large three-stories buildings. The first of these buildings houses the reception area with its high bamboo ceiling. It is huge and very pleasant, and it opens directly onto the door area. You can relax here, comfortably installed in one of the wicker sofas surrounded by green plants. The second building, also accessible form the reception, houses the rooms, all of which look onto the sea with their little terraces.

Marabut Marine Park and Beach Resort

From Leyte, as you to Marabut by banca through the scenic route linking Leyte and Samar, you will already feel a little bit of paradise, a feeling that endures once you are there. The site, with its subtle charm, evokes unexpectedly the land scapes of El Nido. On this area of the cost, very flat everywhere else, rocky sandstone peaks suddenly emerge covered with an abundance of tropical pandanus vegetation, cycas and ficus. this formations also extended into the shore all along the river, just before Marabut. The resort is set in a stunning natural site. A peaceful bay with tranquil waters encircle the cliffs on the edge of a white sand beach. Strange rock peaks in the form of sugar loaves make up the face of the resort. Marabut is composed of only six double bungalows but the owner plans to expand. Through this promises to be a successful undertaking, it will necessarily diminish some of the family atmosphere of the resort. It is advisable you get there before that happens. The Bungalow facing the sea, accessible through a flower-bordered alley, are only few meters from the sea. Polynesian architecture inspires these bungalow, as the former resort's manager. Mounted on piles and extended by terrace, these are vast airy due to the many wooden shutters protected mosquito nets. The materials used are local - wood, cogon and walls in plaited bamboo. The interior is simple and pleasant with high ceilings, beautiful varnished wood floors, bamboo furniture and bright reading lights. The sink is inside the room, encased in tree trunk. These is an enclosed, separate, fairly large shower.

The sunset of the resort is a wondrous spectacle of coves swathed in intense orange and soft purple gray hues, enigmatic silhouettes of looming cliffs, the stillness of the night disturbed only by the cry of the seagulls. The cliffs around Marabut are covered with wild vegetation, and only a cacao or an eagle breaks the calm of the setting. Even further on you can go up the river first aboard a bout, then by canoe and finally on foot to reach the waterfalls.

Punta Isla Lake Resort

You cross a cheerful countryside with many orchards and plantations, notably the immense Dole pineapple plantation. Etched from  a distance is the imposing silhouette of the Matutum Volcano (2,293 meters). the last part of the route from Surullah onward takes you up on the mountain trail. The atmosphere changes as soon as you leave the agricultural plain, the air gets cooler and the light becomes brighter. Finally, about two-and-a-half hours trip from General Santos, you arrive at Lake Sebu where you will notice the Tilapia fish-breeding enclosures. There are several small, similarly styled hotels offering basic amenities around the area but Punta Isla Lake Resort is the only one with a good view of the lake. You can. of course, visit lake Sebu by spending a night at General Santos, although the length of the trip will not allow you to see much of the region, which would be a pity. The resort is up on the cliff overlooking the lake. It is very popular among the locals who come here to spend the day, especially to have lunch in the little wood pavilions floating near the shoreline. The restaurant is situated on the top of a hill with a pleasant terrace having a superb view of the lake. From the top, you can also view the tilapia fish-breeding enclosures that form interesting pattern of squares. The tilapia is served in all possible culinary preparation: Kinilaw, adobo, grilled, and then hauled up to the restaurant by an ingenious system of pulleys!

It is clear that Punta Isla Lake Resort does not have the comfort of a five star hotel but the welcome is warm and the staff is efficient when asked to organize excursions, which include boat rides, renting a bike or visiting the nearby waterfalls and the weavers' workshops.

Eden Nature Park & Resort

Eden Nature Park & Resort, with its 80 hectares of pine groves, is a haven of peace, greenery and coolness where it is enjoyable to ak and fee the crunching of the pine needles beneath your feet. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Talamo, with an altitude of about 830 meters, it offers a magnificent view of the gulf of Davao and the Island of Samal. In the 70's the region was primarily known for its orchid cultivation and excessive forest exploitation. A davao based businessman named Jesus V. Ayala, and his wife Fe Misa, bought the property in 1974 and decide to undertake the eco-tourism project of reconverting the area into young, vigorous forest. They imported pine seedlings from Benguet and Bukidnon, replanted 30% of the land and constructed forest trails. After 30 years, they have achieved a big part of their objective. A botanical garden, an orchard, and a kitchen garden allow their visitors to discover the fora and fruit tress in the region. White parrots and mynahs can also be found in the resort's little aviary. You can also visit a breeding area that shelters various animals such as deer, monkeys and Indian peacocks. There is a also a stable for those who love horseback riding. Going around the resort's ground is done either by foot or by riding on a jeep.

For large groups, the Hidden Cottage or the Log Cabin is recommended. The Hidden Cottage  is tucked among the pine trees. It is suitable for a group seeking privacy. On the other hand, you can enjoy the lovey view of the pine forest of the 25 years old Log Cabin, which has fully equipped kitchen, a drawing room, and a dining room complete with fireplace. the children's playground, remarkable well equipped, is a mode of its kind. The restaurant, Holiday Terraces, is constructed on five levels under an impressive archway of tall tress. Bordered by mini water falls, it is particularly pleasant because of the coolness. In the evenings, you maybe invited to sit down on the grass-covered benches of the amphitheater, a place for the family gathering and shows, where each family prepares an entertainment number. Certainly, this resort has much to offer not just to individuals but to the whole family as well.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort

Constructed on the 11-hectare site of a former pearl farm, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort nestles at the farthest point of a white sand beach surrounded by hills covered with exuberant plant life. It is the creation of Francisco MaƱosa, who is also the architect of the Amanpulo Resort. the resort is a successful blend of the traditional Samal, Mandaya and Maranao architecture with all the necessities of modern comfort. The shape of the structures, notably their roofs covered with bamboo tiles, are particularly innovative. The Parola Bar, an imposing round structure with a double roof, stands guard at the entrance. A little path bordered with sampaguita plants winds across the garden. It links the various cottages the Samal Houses along the beach, the Balay Houses on the the hills and the Mandaya Houses around the swimming pool. If you are going to stay at Pearl Farm, it is better to opt for the more luxurious Samal Suites or the Malipano Villas, as the lower categories are less original. The Samal suites are spacious two story cottages on stilts remarkably made only of bamboo and magnificent tropical woods, ipil-ipil, molave and yakal. They are arranged in a line facing the sea in such a manner as to maintain privacy. Inside, the rooms ahve wood flooring, woven wicker walls and elegant rattan furniture that are superb.

On the other hand, the diving and snorkeling are nothing extraordinary. However, the white sand beaches of the resort and Malipano Island-accessible in a few minutes by shuttle boat are very pleasant. Small boat can also be rented from the aquatic club. At sunset, it is pleasant to walk around Malipano Island to discover the mangrove, or to have a drink at the Paroloa Bar.

Dakak Park Beach Resort

Dakak is a huge resort, set within a wooded, 15-hectare property. Surprisingly, despite its size, Dakak is well integrated into the natural environment that it fully respects. This environment is quite spectacular, a serene bay fringed by a 750-meter beach with fine, golden sand, encircled by rocks and boulders on one side, and a towering limestone spur on the other. The beach gently pushes into the sea making it deal for children. You can, in 20 minutes, scale the cliff through a well-marked trail and enjoy the superb view of the beach and the sea. The bamboo bungalows with nipa roofs are well concealed in the vegetation and from the beach, it is difficult to imagine that a resort of such dimension is hidden there. The bungalows are laid out in tier from the seafront to the top of the hill and are distributed over different sections from section A at the rear end of the beach, to the most distant section E. The last sections, quite high up and far from the beach and the restaurant, are not recommended for elderly people. The bungalows on the seashore are better located, the best being those at the foot of the cliff. Dakak has three superb swimming pools, one of which is reserved exclusively for children. A pleasant title bar is near the swimming pool close to the sea. Dakak is a place suitable for families with children. it has a safe beach and a variety of activities are possible within the area watersports, golf, tennis and horseback riding. Bahay-Bakasyunan sa Camiguin

Bahay-Baksyunan sa Camiguin, which means in English means "Vacation House in Camiguin", was conceived by its owner, Mr. Efren Uy, as a place for accommodating visiting family members. In 1994, the house was transformed into a resort preserving its hospitable, family atmosphere. The keys to your room are handed over to you without any formality as you arrive at the central pavilion housing the reception are and the boutique. the six duplex bungalows, each with two rooms, are aligned at a s good distance from each other on half of the terrain. The other half has been left in its natural state. There is an impressive coconut grove on the meticulously maintained lawns. The resort has the advantage of having better ventilation than in other resort on the island where the structures are a bit too compact. The ensemble is relaxing, neat and clean. the architecture is resolutely traditional with nipa roofing, bamboo walls and furniture. An extra bed any be added without any difficulty, as the rooms are comfortably spacious. All the rooms have individual terraces that look out onto the coconut grove. While it is possible to swim in the sea after walking over large pebbles, Bahay Bakasyunan sa Camiguin does not have a beach, its only weak point. However, this is largely compensated by the big swimming pool situated on the edge of the shore. It is pleasant, surrounded by gren lawns, with a special pool for children and a separate Jacuzzi. You will especially appreciate it if you go to Camiguin during the cool season, which is also the time for the Lanzones Festival. You can also rent a van or a banca belonging to the resort and accomplishment all the excursions to the points of interest in Camiguin, without being obliged to go to Mambajao where the travel agents are located. Historic Place of Mazaua Island

The Chronological story of Limasawa was written by a Jesuit priest, Fr. Francisco Combes, who almost authored the countless story of where and when the ever first anchorage of Magellan's fleet during the Easter week in 1521.

The Mazaua Island of Butuan.
