Leyte Park Hotel

Leyte Park Hotel, the largest hotel in Tacloban, occupies a prime spot on a slight promontory facing the bay of San Pedro. From here, you can get a glimpse of Samar Island on the opposite side. An energetic, spirited atmosphere often reigns here, as the hotel is the venue for numerous conferences and is the place where local residents go for the restaurants, bars and discotheque. you can take part in several activities and excursions from here. It is notable the jump-off point for Marabut Mirine Park and Beach Resort and the Sohoton National Park. If given sufficient notice, the resort can organize camping in lake Magnano, a jeepney tour of Samar, or a ride in a catamaran to discover the coastal areas. The hotel is made up of two large three-stories buildings. The first of these buildings houses the reception area with its high bamboo ceiling. It is huge and very pleasant, and it opens directly onto the door area. You can relax here, comfortably installed in one of the wicker sofas surrounded by green plants. A few steps lead to the bar and the restaurant. The Verandah Cafe which offers a good view of the swimming pool and the sea through large bay windows. The restaurant has coconut wood furniture designed in Cebu. The other parts of the building are used as conference halls. The second building, also accessible form the reception, houses the rooms, all of which look onto the sea with their little terraces.

Other rooms are housed in cottages, which can be found in the garden. The Supreme cottages are excellent, with nice terraces facing the sea. These are huge, completely paneled in beautiful red wood with high painted bamboo ceiling. The very attractive bathrooms open partially onto the rooms by inclining wooden shuttered windows. The wood, bamboo and palm furniture is tastefully original. the new Quadruplex cottages are more reasonably-sized but are equally nice. There are two large swimming pools, one is for children, hemmed in by trees and plants facing the sea. There is a pleasant circular bar with a double nipa roof just on the side, is just a 10-minutes walk away, or you can wait for the shuttle bus to take you there.
