Pearl Farm Beach Resort

Constructed on the 11-hectare site of a former pearl farm, the Pearl Farm Beach Resort nestles at the farthest point of a white sand beach surrounded by hills covered with exuberant plant life. It is the creation of Francisco MaƱosa, who is also the architect of the Amanpulo Resort. the resort is a successful blend of the traditional Samal, Mandaya and Maranao architecture with all the necessities of modern comfort. The shape of the structures, notably their roofs covered with bamboo tiles, are particularly innovative. The Parola Bar, an imposing round structure with a double roof, stands guard at the entrance. A little path bordered with sampaguita plants winds across the garden. It links the various cottages the Samal Houses along the beach, the Balay Houses on the the hills and the Mandaya Houses around the swimming pool. If you are going to stay at Pearl Farm, it is better to opt for the more luxurious Samal Suites or the Malipano Villas, as the lower categories are less original. The Samal suites are spacious two story cottages on stilts remarkably made only of bamboo and magnificent tropical woods, ipil-ipil, molave and yakal. They are arranged in a line facing the sea in such a manner as to maintain privacy. Inside, the rooms ahve wood flooring, woven wicker walls and elegant rattan furniture that are superb.

On the other hand, the diving and snorkeling are nothing extraordinary. However, the white sand beaches of the resort and Malipano Island-accessible in a few minutes by shuttle boat are very pleasant. Small boat can also be rented from the aquatic club. At sunset, it is pleasant to walk around Malipano Island to discover the mangrove, or to have a drink at the Paroloa Bar.
